Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide?

Local moves (one day moves), long distance moves (usually across states), international moves, storage. And we supply packing material.

How much will it cost?

If you accurately fill out our estimate you will get a totally flat rate price. No additional costs will magically appear on your final bill. Go ahead and fill out the form on our home page.

What do I need to do to prepare for my move?

Most moves require the following steps:<br>
Take an inventory of your goods to determine which items should be shipped. Almost everyone accumulates “things” they do not really want to keep. Separate and mark those items that you will not be moving.

Once I have eliminated unnecessary items, what´s next?

If a move has more than one part (i.e.: airfreight, ocean freight, or permanent storage) the shipper should have firmly fixed in their mind what goods are going by what method. As the airfreight is normally a very small portion, it is best if this can be separated into a spare closet or the corner of one room. These are the goods you will need first and we will want to remove them the first day. The more organized the shipper is, the easier the entire move will be. Preplanning pays big dividends!

How should I pack?

Have all small items packed in one box to eliminate losses.
Books, records, CD`s and other heavy items should be packed in small boxes only.
Large boxes should be packed with lighter items such as linens, toys, etc.

If you use your own boxes, make sure they are not old and dilapidated. These tend to be weak and will break under pressure.
Be organized in your packing. Over packing will make the boxes difficult to move and stack. The boxes may tear and your items can be damaged.
Tape the top and bottom of your boxes well, in order to keep them from opening during the move.
Be sure to use plenty of packing materials when packing your dishes, Glassware, or any breakable items.
Mark each box so it will be easy to identify the contents when unpacking

What happens if I have to reschedule my move?

No propblem – just contact us so we can reschedule.

How long does it take to move?

This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment is traveling.

How soon should I call the moving company?

The earlier, the better. Although the actual van assignment may not be made until a few days before your move, it’s wise to give your moving company from four to six weeks’ notice, if possible. The more lead time you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your schedule.

Do my appliances require extra attention?

Most refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other electrical or mechanical appliances require special servicing to ensure safe transportation. Any moving parts such as motors on major appliances, washer drums, icemakers and the pickup arm on a phonograph should be securely fastened for shipment. Gas appliances need to be serviced and disconnected prior to your move. It is the owner’s responsibility to see that appliances are serviced for shipment before they are loaded on the van. Upon request and for an additional charge, a moving company will perform this service, using either its own qualified personnel or an authorized service company.
